UPDATE!!!!

Some good news!
My Harrisonville, MO police officer friend I've been conversing with over the phone just called me and told me he managed to get the rifle from Joe this evening and is shipping it to me tomorrow morning.  So, Joe lied again when he claimed he had already shipped it.  In a few days, I'll see if any work was actually done to it, but I'm betting not, given George Gardner's recent experience dealing with Joe.

However, at least I will get my rifle back, so I'm happy about that.

I am so appreciative of what this officer did for me!  He went well above and beyond what many would have done!  He's originally from Texas, and he said he was "happy to help out a fellow Texan!"

I'll provide further details once I receive the rifle.
Ted

Glad to hear you are getting your rifle back!  Sorry to hear about the pain in the butt it was, but great to hear about a guy that is so willing to help out.

Great to talk with you last night Ted.  Glad to hear you are getting your rifle back.  I hope the work was done and to your satisfaction, since you paid for it.  But, by now, as I would feel, I am sure you are just glad to get such a fine rifle back into your own hands.

I wonder why he did not just give it to George from GA precision in the first place?  That is really odd, the only explanations to that is he must of planned on stealing it from you or he actually thought he might finish it.  Really odd though at this point.

I am glad you are getting it back Ted, that will be a huge sigh of relief.

The Harrisonville police officer called me today to give me the tracking number, so I should receive it on Tuesday or Wednesday.  He even insured it.  The guy went above and beyond the call of duty to help me, and I'm extremely grateful!

I will update everyone on my findings when I'm able to open the box.

I guess I'll never know why things happened the way they did, and what Joe's motives were for being so evasive and telling so many contradictory stories and outright lies, but at least I'm getting my property back.  The funny thing is that all of this trouble and bad PR could have very easily been avoided if he would have simply answered his phone, kept me informed about the status of the work and the reason for delays, and kept his word.  I wasn't all that concerned about the length of time it took, but his outright dishonesty and the fact others were having the same problems with him made me wonder if I would ever see my rifle again.  Why would anyone behave in this way unless they had something to hide?

Good news, I didn't think you would get it back after catching him in so many lies.

The really sad part of it all is the fact that until recent months, he had a good reputation for doing good work, and he may have effectively destroyed his business due to his own actions, which were totally avoidable.  It's so hard to build a good reputation and so easy to destroy it.  But, people deserve to know when someone is unethical in their business dealings.

UPDATE --

As I said earlier, officer Chesbro of the Harrisonville PD managed to get my gun from Joe and shipped it to me this past Thursday.  It arrived at my house on Saturday and my wife received it (since I was out of town).  I just opened it a few minutes ago, and everything is just as I had sent it to Joe, with no work done whatsoever.  So, not only did he lie to me about shipping it to me twice, lie to George Gardner about shipping it to me on Friday, 5/16, and lie to officer Chesbro about shipping it to me on Monday, 5/19, but he lied to me twice since February about it being finished and only lacking reassembly.  He had it in his possession for 6 months and didn't do a damn thing to it, just as he had done to numerous other customers.  He never even disassembled it to prep it for finish as he claimed.  All he did was open the box and cash my check.  The one decent thing he did was enclose a check reimbursing me for my payment for the work, assuming the check isn't made of rubber.  So, I got my rifle back, but I was out 6 months' worth of time for nothing, and spent a lot of money on long distance phone calls doing detective work to try to get my rifle back, and listening to his answering machine 3 times a day for several months.

But, at least I got my property back.  A big thanks goes out to officer Kris Chesbro for really going above and beyond the call of duty in getting my rifle returned to me!
Ted

Shame you had this problem, I really like the stock Joe painted on my GAP rifle. Dont think I want to risk loosing a rifle so he hurt himself as far as future business.
