Captain Higgins's sheriff (his commanding officer) told him to "tone down" what the sheriff saw as "unprofessional comments" on the Crime Stoppers videos, and asked that Higgins review any material spoken to the media with him for approval first. Higgins said he cannot in good conscience comply with the sheriff's command and therefore resigned from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's office.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz received complaints from the ACLU and unnamed "community organizations" about the tone and language of Higgins' famous Crime Stoppers videos, but claims these complaints had no influence on his decision.
I predict Sheriff Bobby Guidroz won't be reelected after this. The community at large loved Capt. Higgins.
F*$%in' political correctness on steroids yet again!
