I want a 1-4 ish optic for my 6.8. The rifle will be used for hunting so low light and clarity is a plus. Where I currently hunt I am looking at a max 100-yard shot but want to get an optic that will allow me to fully use the effective range of the 6.8 on deer, so out to 300 yards. I have a budget of $500.
I have been looking at the following: 1. SWFA SS 1-4x24 Tactical 2. Burris 1-4x24 MTAC 3. Vortex 1-6x24 Strike Eagle Are there any others I should be looking at in this price range? Which would be the best optic for my money? |

SWFA SS would be the better option of these three.
You should also be looking at HiLux CMR4 1-4x24 and Vortex PST 1-4x24 ILya

Recently took a hog using a 300 Blackout AR and an SWFA 1-6X scope at about 80 yards. Other hunters in the group were running Primary Arms 1-6x and Leupold's hog hunter VX-R. No comparison in the glass quality with the SWFA clearly the better scope. I had no issues putting a round through his ear 30 minutes before sunset while he was rooting around under a large oak tree. Magnification was sitting at 4x and didn't need the illumination. Latter helped latter as it was getting closer to sunset.
Both the SWFA 1-4X and 1-6X are currently priced higher than your $500 budget but who knows what Black Friday will bring. The HiLux CMR that Koshkin recommended is an excellent budget scope and great value for its money. I used it on a S&W M&P 15-22 as a trainer and my son used that setup on a jack rabbit hunt with very good success.

That is their Classic line. Think you will appreciate their HD glass for the objectives you have but comes at a price.
