Just switch mags with the NRA, wonder if they will send the Hunter or Rifleman.  Might find out when I get home.

.....................That is the velocity speed for the 416 Ruger with a 400 gr bullet, which is a 375 Ruger case necked up to a 416. Not a RCM case. Although the RCM is based on the 375 Ruger case, it is a shorter case with less powder capacity.

I don`t think there is a .416 RCM out yet. If there were a 416 RCM, it wouldn`t be able to get 2400 fps performance from a 400 grainer out of a 20" barrel. Not enough powder capacity.

.........There`s no 375 RCM yet that I know of, so how can there be a 416 RCM? Looks like a mistake or a misprint in that article by adding on the term "RCM." Or, they are mistaking the RCM case for the longer 375-416 Ruger case. They are not the same. The RCMs are shorter versions of the longer 375 Ruger casing.

The 300 RCM and 338 RCM, are shorter in length than the 375 Ruger`s COAL of 3.340 inches, which is exactly the same COAL as the 30-06.

Without looking it up, the COAL of the 300-338 RCMs is roughly the same as the 300-325 WSMs at 2.800" to maybe 2.860" which would be the same for any necked up 338 RCM to a 416 RCM. Although a good thought, I don`t see Ruger/Hornady necking up the 338 RCM to a 416, because doing so right now might divert attention away from the new 416 Ruger.

The case and COAL difference between the 375-416 Rugers vs the RCMs and the WSMs is about 1/2 inch. Even if one did or could neck up a 338 RCM  to a 416 RCM, the case doesn`t have enough powder capacity to move a 400 grainer @ 2400 fps like the larger 416 Ruger, which is a 375 Ruger case up to a 416.

The 20" Ruger Alaskans for the time being, are only available in 2 cartridges, the 375 and 416 Rugers, not in the RCMs,,,,yet!

They added in the "RCM" by mistake in that article.

...........It`s not your fault that article was wrong and you didn`t know. But don`t stop offering info and news when you see some!......Who knows!  Ruger may very well have some more RCM offerings on the way.

.................We`ll see what Ruger does if anything more. If they do come out with the 7/RCM, they`ll have a good marketing reason to do so. It`ll make good competition for the Remy`s  7mm/08.

As far as innovating and marketing new products are concerned, Ruger and Hornady together, are miles ahead of Remington and Winchester imo. If Ruger and Hornady do come out with the 7/RCM, they`ll also come out with a good rifle for it, just like they did with the 300 & 338 RCMs. While the 7/WSM`s popularity has waned, the 7/RCM could very well pick up the slack given some time. Knowing Ruger, I`ll bet they have and are considering that.

If they come out with a 270 RCM, I`ll really laugh my a** off,,, thinking of you!!!....LaughRoll on Floor Laughing

i believe that hornady is currently developing a new case called the .268 mako?? which would fit nicely between the .264 and .277 family's. not sure what its status at this point is exactly. may be a next year release thing we will see.

I just was searching the web the other day and saw on another forum people talking about a new cartridge the shot a 135 or 140 grain bullet above 3500 fps (they said maybe even faster (Excellent) ) and I believe it was being designed by Hornady but people did not know much other than that. I will try to find some more info....
