I don't know how the internals of a scope work, but I was wondering if my problems might be a loose reticle?  I have a Leupold M3 3.5x10x40, it was a premier conversion where they put their mildot reticle in it.  I have used it for over 10 years with no problems, but lately the rifle it is on won't shoot under 2 moa.  This combintaion has shot many .5 moa groups, but not anymore.  I initially thought it was ammo problems, it will shoot 2 or three into one hole then throw one 1.5moa to the right or sometimes the left.  I also noticed when this started going bad that when shooting out to 600 or so that when I dialed up the elevation I had a 1-1.5 moa shift to the right.  I then put a large piece of cardboard up at 100 and using the same aiming point started dialing up the elevation in 5 moa increments and noticed the rounds veering off to the right.
After I dialed up 30 moa it was about 2.5 inches to the right of the vertical plumb line I was using.  I then fired 5 shots for a group and it shifted right back to the vertical line.  I have also dialed in elevation and windage corrections, and they will not take full effect until after the first shot is fired.
Could this be a loose reticle?  Btw, I had the parralax adjusted properly so I don't think that is it.

Request a damage estimate as many industries view custom work as a violation of waranty. Leupold aND pREMIER WORKED TOGETHER FOR A WHILE  so this may be OK. I returned a compact 6X w/Premier adj system back in the 80's and they repaired FOC. They also siad they had found nothing wrong, but it was fixed.
