I have a Marlin Camp 45 which I think I'd like to put some type of red dot on.  Don't wanna spend too much (<$200).  Something like the Viper Strikefire looks appealing.  The ACOG lok is cool and somewhat fits the profile.  Any similar ones y'all might suggest?  I don't  expect to shooting anything more dangerous than tin cans and pine cones (but ya never know).  Small or adjustable dot/reticle size would be preferred.  Quick aquisition with accuracy on smallish targets would be the goal.

I've never had a red dot before, but I can't see open sights very well anymore.

Holosights would be another option.

I'm not big on requiring "weird" batteries unless their lifetime is fantastic.

If you want adjustable red dot size, check out Bushnell/Millett ZoomDot:

Doesn't have to be adjustable.  I just don't forsee the use of 5 an 10 MOA dots.  I'm not looking for CQB on mansized targets.

I see Bushnell has a very similar ACOG looking site.  The Trophy 1x32 MP.  I think slight magnifcation might be preferred, but perhaps not a viable option in this site type/price.

Anyone have a comparison between the Bushnell, Vortex and Barfska?

I notice the Zoom Dot is not on Millets home page which appears to have recently been updated. Did they forget the Zoom Dot or 86 it?

It is now a Bushnell.  They had them with the new label at SHOT.

I dont mean to thread jack the OP but this just seems on topic rather than start a new thread.

Bushnell updated their web page to include their new Zoom Dot. Im trying to find out if its worth the new Bushnell or go with old Millett. Bushnell has molested it and now there is some sort of auto shut off depending on gun position and added red/green dot selection. Old Zoom Dot was $299, new will be about $219. Milletts Zoom Dot just appeals to me as a quality built dot sight on a budget. I was always under the impression the sights w/ red and green were cheap.

Anyone else been able to compare these two yet? Is the new one better in terms of quality or less? How does the auto off work? I believe the old Millett Zoom Dot was Parallax free. Want to confirm if its changed or is really only after like 50 yards.

FYI - Millet is a subsiderary company of Bushnell
