I am trying to mount a scope on my CZ 527 using medium rings. With every scope I have tried, the bolt hits the ocular bell before it is able to cycle completely.

What I would like to find is a low, fixed power scope in the 1x-2.5x range, with a 1" tube and no ocular bell at all. I don't want a red dot, because I don't want to have to rely on batteries.

I looked at the Leupold prismatic, but the integral mount won't work with the CZ, as it has proprietary bases built in to the receiver.

Basically, what I need is a 1" tube red dot scope, but with an etched reticle. Sounds simple to me, but I don't think it exists, based on my research...

Any help?

Thanks

If I can't find this, I plan on mounting a picatinnay rail forward of the receiver and going the scout scope way, BTW.

I am not aware of any decent scopes without an ocular.  There was a Hakko 4x21 made a while back, but that is largely it.  Kaps, I believe, still makes their straight tube 4x28 scope, but I do not think anyone imports it, and it is a 30mm design anyway.

There are , however, a few scopes with rather slim ocular bells.  If you are looking for something with fixed power, Leupold Fx-2 2.5x20 may be worth a look.

Burris Timberline 4x20 also has a pretty slim eyepiece as is the now discontinued Weaver K2.5 (perhaps K4 is worth a look as well).

the easiest solution is to have the bolt handle slimmed by a gunsmith , thats what I do with the 3 cz's I have.

For $44.00, Jim Calhoon will exchange your CZ bolt handle for one that should cure your problem.  I too have a CZ-527 and its the only thing about the rifle I don't like.  Here's the link;

If the 527 has a flat top receiver you can always have it drilled and tapped for weaver style bases.  That's what I did on my 550 FS.  That will really open up your options on scope mounting.  Only cost like $30 to have it done.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just go ahead and order the 12" weaver rail blank form Brownells and work on getting a scout scope and find a rear aperture that will work.
