Man this is tough.
I've read and read about these scopes and still can't decide. Whacko

I'm looking for a good variable mildot with side focus in the $600 or less range.  Preferably without target turrets.... but not a deal breaker.  Scope is going an a 22-250 that I use for target, groundhogs and a little coyote hunting.

I would like to here from you guys that have actually been able to compare a couple of these.  Or at least had hands on experience with similar scopes of these brands to compare.

Here's what I'm lookin at so far
Kinda leaning toward the 4200, because of the constatnt excellent reviews and the raingurd

Nikon 4-16x42 Monarch

Bushnell 6-24x40 Elite 4200

Bushnell 2.5-16x42 Elite 6500

Vortex 6.5-20x44 Viper

Burris 6.5-20x50 Fullfield II (not side focus, but........... )

Sightron 6.5-20x50 SII Big Sky (a little above budget, but would like to here how it stacks up)

I have a 4200 6-24x40 on my 308 and I love it the glass is pristeen. Its a great scope I'd recommended it to anybody. But I got a bad cookie my parralax knob became loose and now I can't run the whole range through it. But that's just mine. Its a great scope.

I would probably go with Elite 6500 2.5-16x42.

Just for the record, on my 22-250 I have Sightron S2 Big Sky 6-24x42 and I am very happy with it.  However, mine is mostly a bench gun.

confused, why would you want a mil-dot without target turrets, or are you thinking a ballistic drop reticle, (which work pretty good without targets)?

I guess I use the mildot incorrectly.  The target turrets are just bulk.
In target situations, I know the yardage.  In hunting situations, if I have time, I use my rangefinder or guess on groundhogs to make it a little more interesting.  I have never used the mildots for rangefinding of ballistic calculations.

I use them for aiming points.  Knowing how they relate to my POI at different distances.  Burris's balistic plex is great, but didn't see it in the power ranges I was looking at.  Bushnell's DOA looks inviting too, but for the extra money, mildot will do.

If your using the dots/hash marks for hold over, then decide at what point there are too many and go from there. (reticle sight picture is too busy)
