Looking for a 3-12x50 to replace my 3-9x40 Fullfield II. Mainly looking for something that will perform well in low light conditions. I love my Fullfield II, but often times it would be nice to have 12x zoom to check out a deer.

I wish I could step up to a 3-12x44 Burris Signature Select, but can't afford to exceed $250.

I'm currently looking at the following, all of which are fully multicoated except the Nikon:

3-12x50 Kruger K4 $140
4-12x40 Vortex Diamondback $200
3-12x50 Weaver Buck Commander $230
3-15x50 Pentax Gameseeker $240
4-12x50 Nikon Buckmaster $250 on Sample List
3-12x42 Sightron SII...would have to wait on a good deal.

I can't seem to find much information on several of these scopes. Any real world or hands on experience/opinions? Or possibly a better option I have not included?

Thanks! Thunbs Up

I guess I can't edit my first post. I found a great deal locally on a Nikon Monarch 3-12x42 with the nikoplex reticle. Is this the obvious choice out of the scopes listed?

Having looked over a few more options since first posting, I narrowed my choices to the aforementioned Buckmaster and a 3-12x50 Hawke Endurance 30. Undecided and unable to compare them myself, I asked Randy Wakeman of Randy Wakeman Outdoors for his opinion as he had tested the Hawke in his low light scope comparisons below:
http://randywakeman.com/A-Low-Light-Riflescope-Comparison.htm
http://randywakeman.com/LowLightScopeComparisonPartII.htm

He replied ",I'd get the Hawke without hesitation."

He additionally recommended it as one of his great values in optics:

I'll be ordering soon and will be sure to let you all know my initial and long term impressions of the scope.

I have a Sightron SII 3-12x50 that I would sale in just that price range.
Discontinued by Sightron a couple of yrs ago when they started the Big Sky line up.
Its been on my wife's deer rifle since I bought it new about 4 yrs ago. It has ring marks on it from using those darn Leupold QRW rings but ill include the rings and Butler Creek flip up scope covers.
Mama wants some high priced glass

Im here in the DFW Metroplex

If you can get a great deal on the Monarch, that would be my choice.

I had the 3-12 SII, and it did not impress me terribly optically.  IMO, the SII and SII BS lines are miles apart.

The Monarch should be the best optically, but the Diamondbacks are also really good values.

the higher the power range the more important it is to spend more money on better glass.

I had a 4-12x50 Buckmaster and used it one season then sold it.  BAD tunnel vision effect.  Monarch is much better scope IMO.  Diamondback would be my 2nd choice.
