I am wanting a scope to mount on rifles during load development then will move to a small size scope for hunting.  I have been looking at the SS 20x but a friend has offered me a 4x20 Weaver Super Slam that he just bought and has now decided it is to heavy.  The cost will be about the same so which would you pick? Feel free to suggest any others I should consider.
Thanks

I use a 10x SS for just such tasks. Also used a 12x SS too successfully.

Both should be fine for your intended purpose.

I would go for the Super Slam in this case, assuming that there is nothing wrong withthat scope other than being too heavy for your friend.

It is a little better optically than the SS and the variable magnification is helpful.

That is sorta personal, but I prefer to shoot at 12x-16x, while 20x is helpful for looking at groups, etc.

I would do the Weaver for a dedicated load development scope.  Not only would it help a friend come off some gear, but the variable magnification would be more useful than a fixed for such tasks.

I do love the golden oldies.

My preference is a fixed, so mil delineations are always clear and always accurate. For load development t, I want exact drop data, mil reticles are great for that, assuming you can use a mil reticle.
