As I said the brown sleigh stopped and left a box from SWFA on the porch. I have a stevens 200 in 308 win that I bought as a knock about /loaner rifle, plus I didn't have a 308. The original plan was to use a gift card I had received at a big box sporting goods store and to come up with a solid hunting rifle for a value price. Anyway it has worn an old 4x tasco I had laying around and it served fine for it's first deer hunting season accounting for a nice doe at about 200 yds. Anyway I was wanting a different scope and decided on one of the 3-9 x40 pentax pioneers on sale for $109 looked appealing. It's supposedly a rebadged fullfield ii and I believe it. They are exact clones , both made in the Philippines and both have a Golden Co warranty address. Anyway I have it all mounted up and have to say for $109 it's a pretty impressive pkg. at first glance. I'm sort of anxious to get out to the range.

So the one you got is made in the Philippines? I'd buy one too if I was sure it would be made there and be a copy of the FFII. However, I've read that they are now being made in China and I don't want to end up with one of those.

Sorry Bitterroot I'm not that good at taking & posting pics besides it's a std Stevens 200 and not all that photogenic. Like I said it started out as a 2nd line rifle to keep around our deer camp as a back up and loaner .The funny thing is my buddy got the good but cheap deer rifle bug and scrounged around until he found one in 7mm-08. We laugh and half seriously joke about we're glad we bought our other rifles first as these outfits make it hard to justify another hunting rifle. Considering I had a gift card I have about $250 out of pocket in mine including this scope purchase and truthfully wouldn't have qualms about taking it anywhere to hunt.

HTM if you're interested just give them a call at SWFA. They were very helpful and I'm sure would see you get what you want. I had bought one of the 4.5-14x44's earlier for a .223 I had and it too was made in the Philippines. So far I'm pretty impressed and see this as a real value purchase. With time I may be proven wrong & be disappointed but I really don't expect so besides it's only $100 .

Well I got to the range this weekend and zeroed my pioneer. After an inital bout where the scope slipped a bit in the rings (I'm experimenting with laying off on over tightening and eased up a bit too much) I got down to work and zeroed it 2" high at 100 yds. I will say that for the $ I am very happy and impressed with this little scope. The image is bright and clear and zeros right in there and there doesn't seem to be any drift as you change power. I would venture a wager that it would have fit in fine with the scopes in the recent inexpensive scope test by Koskin. Would I have given $200 for it? Maybe not as I could get the burris badge for that but for the $109 if you have a rifle that needs a new hat on a budget then you could do a lot worse.
