Damn shame about the hard copy encyclopedias. I have a full set of them too. Used to buy a year book every year that had cut and paste updates to keep it current. On-line, CD versions, and Wikipedia have killed them. Not sure if libraries even bother with a reference set anymore.

Nope....regular BOOKS are gone. I was trying to sell Encyclopedia Britannica in Phoenix in 1986....but the only person who wanted them was.....ME!    Well, I finally got some AND the GREAT BOOKS but Meghan got them from me now.....

OFF TOPIC

Years ago in Kansas I went to a LIBRARY SALE in Pratt (a GIVEAWAY!)....I bought a set of Encyclopedia Britannica (1966) for FIVE BUCKS! (two volumes missing)....but the divorce took care of that....

YEARS LATER I used to visit a gun store in Pennsylvania EVERY DAY and look around...Needless to say They KNEW ME...I used to buy all kinds of stuff....guns, ammo, books, etc....

Well one day John had an entire set of Encyclopedia Britannica sitting on the floor (1964) and he said I could have it FOR FREE!

He even helped me load it into my truck....but I lost that when I left my wife and PA in 2012...Hasta la Vista....Baby.....

Old radios!
My 1970 Challenger had an AM radio. My 85 Z28 had an AM/FM, cassette, and my 2019 Mustang has an AM/FM, CD, and Serious, with those little stick things that store all kinds of music.
You can no longer get cassettes. It's getting harder to find CDs, and they're trying to get rid of AM.
Last year's radio is old now.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

My 62  Chevy Impala had an AM radio....I had the buttons set for Scranton (PA), New York City, and AFTER DARK I could pick up Chicago (WLS) and Boston and West Virginia....

my 66 Olds Cutlass had an AM....I used to listen to AM San Antonio (KTSA)....

My 72 Olds Cutlass had AM/FM....

My 1985 Ford pick up had a steering wheel and that was about all....

I remember listening to WLS after dark. Only time you could pick it up.

There was a FM station just outside of Fort Knox back in the 70's that was really great. Got my intro to Fire Sign Theater from them. They had a weak signal though, and you could only get the station on the southwest side of the county.

When we were youngsters we used to use a portable radio just like this to listen to the Giants baseball and college football games while working in the yard. At night while in bed we'd listen to the Gene Nelson old time radio shows. There was a variety of shows he'd play, some were from Gun Smoke, Lone ranger, Lights Out, Inner Sanctum, The Shadow, Abbot and Costello, etc.  Good times, most kids have no idea what they're missing.

Dad's 61 Buick had an AM tube radio. When you turned it on, it took several seconds before you could hear it. Many people commented about how good it sounded.
