Anybody out there in Fly-Over Country like old radios?

I been out here in Fly-Over Country for so long I was 45 years old before I ever met a Democrat.

By Ken Levine: A final thought on audiences

Anyway my favorite INDESTRUCTIBLE radio is a Grundig Party Boy 500 from Germany circa 1973...

GRUNDIG PARTY BOY 500 - YouTube

It's fantastic. It has outlived a lot of my radios. I once left it outside for a while and it started to rain...and I forgot about it. A half hour later I remembered my radio was out in the downpour. I dried it out and a couple of days later it was back to normal. That was six years ago. It's a tank!

I also have an Elite Boy 500 Grundig radio...it was even BETTER than the Party Boy. It could separate signals like a laser beam...but, alas, the volume control slide broke a couple of years ago and would cost HUNDREDS of DOLLARS to get fixed....

Viscount 833 multiband transistor portable | Transistors, Vintage radio, Retro radios

When I was a kid on the farm my Mom bought me a radio from a mail-order catalog. She knew that I did not have a transistor radio like my sister did. So she ordered a Viscount AM/SW/Marine Band radio and surprised me back in 1963.

Viscount 8 Transistor 3 Band 833 Radio Consolidated S.M. | Radiomuseum

Viscount 833 - SOLD! - item number 1430752

That radio was fantastic. It was built by Toshiba. AM band, Short Wave, and Marine Band...I could pick up England, Luxemburg, and Radio Moscow on Short Wave and of course all the AM music locally.

Radio Museum says it was a terrific radio. I have three of them today in my collection.

Touring International 103 52151401 Radio ITT Schaub-Lorenz | Radiomuseum

I have an ITT Schaub Lorenz Touring International radio from Germany. They did not import these radios to the USA. I got this on eBay from a guy in Germany. The radio was UNBELIEVABLE! But after about seven years it JUST QUIT for no reason. But it was freaking amazing.

Philco Bakelite - Etsy

I had an ancient old Philco radio in the barn when I was a kid...we mounted it on one of the old beams in the ceiling and plugged it into a light socket with a plug in it....when I turned on the lights the radio came on "automatically" (after the tubes warmed up...).....

Over the years the radio got whitewashed whenever the barn got whitewashed every other year...  Bucky

Vintage Channel Master, Model 6518A, AM-FM Bands, 14 Trans… | Flickr

Back in the OLDE DAYS Channel Master was a GOOD RADIO....I had a Viscount....but I have a 14 Transistor Channel Master now... from the early sixties....sometimes it wanders off the signal but that may be due to weak batteries....
