Anyone have the light transmission numbers from scopes like the Leupold VX-I and Burris Fullfield II. I'd like a comparison of those two mainly but I think the charts I've seen have had other scopes listed in there too. I can't find them for some reason anymore. Thanks.

I believe burris has a comparison chart matching their fullfield  to scopes of similar price.

The problem with comparing light transmission numbers is that unless they are done by an unaffiliated 3rd party using the same methodology for all scopes tested, they don't mean much.  There is no standard for how it's measured, so even if the manufacturer publishes the numbers, you don't know if the number represents the total light transmission or per lens.  Is the % the total visible light or a particular wavelength spectrum?  Much of the light transmission % numbers you see advertised is misleading, marketing hype.  A scope may have good light transmission in the green spectrum but poor % in the blue spectrum, which would make it a poor performer in low light.

This, of course, applies to comparing the published numbers supplied by manufacturers.  If there has been some kind of scientific study done by an unaffiliated party quantitatively comparing the light transmission of different scopes, that would be great, but I've never seen such a test done.

There is an international (world) standard: ISO 14490-5 "Optics and optical instruments- Test methods for telescopic systems - Part 5: Test methods for transmittance"

Another problem is that light transmission itself doesn't tell even half the tale. A scope can be very bright, but if its resolution isn't very good the brightness doesn't help much.
