I've been wanting to read this FOREVER but I got busy with Life..... So I'll read The Proud Tower first and then read this one... Well I just finished this one.... It's May 1940 and Maisie is asked to find a boy who hasn't called his folks in a while. He's working as an apprentice for a government contractor painting new barracks and airfields with fire retardant paint. Well you know what May 1940 was..... DUNKIRK! All hell breaks loose. |

I just ordered Jack Carr's #2 and #4 of the James Reese Terminal List series. I avoided "The Terminal LIst" for a long time, just because it didn't seem like it would be anything "different", mentally challenging... I was WRONG. Well written, technically excellent, lots of action, thoughtfully provoking (and borrowing from some of the recent similar themed movies and books... or at least very well along many of the same conditions... OK, it works... Carr does a great job). I, wrongfully, thought Carr would have nothing new and interesting to offer. "The Terminal LIst" was "chew your fingernails" suspenseful. I will follow Reese until the end...
Too bad he and Maisie Dobbs can't have an affair...

I am checking out the hotties online to see who I would want to see play Maisie in the movies.....
But....it's better if you read Maisie in ORDER because it's not like some Agatha Christie mystery...it's a veritable miniseries about Maisie's life and all her friends and family! Like Downton Abbey! (plus Maisie does get.....umm....involved with a few men over the years....) |

An almnus of my Dad's school in (then) Rhodesia called Plumtree. Apparently Dad asked him what Colditz had been like and this gentleman replied "After Plumtree, easy"
