I am looking for a good-quality 1-?X scope to use on my AR.  I don't need a lot of whistles & bells.  I just need a good, solid optic for use in 3-gun & such.  I am looking hard at the Leupold 1-4X20 Shotgun/Black Powder Scope with the turkey reticle.  In the store, the scope looks great!  I have a concern, though, about the rather long eye relief.

Has anyone out there used one of these scopes in this sort of application?  Your thoughts?

Thanks in advance for the info.

eye relief good but parallex is set about 75 ft. I've used the 1x4 on a heavy but the rifle one.  Is it that you like the reticle on the turkey?

"Is it that you like the reticle on the turkey?"

Absolutely!  I've used 'turkey-plex' scopes before & found the reticle very quick to pick up, even in subdued light.  I'm looking for something that is rugged & dependable without batteries & such - if I use the rifle in that low a light condition, I have a mounted weapons light.

As for the parallax, isn't it 75 YARDS?  Additionally, based on the research I've done, the power range of the optic & the type of shooting I'll be doing, parallax won't really be an issue.

No problem!  I appreciate the thoughts!  I don't post here a great deal, though I read stuff here a lot!  Based on what I've read in the "Scope School" (I think that's the name! Bucky) posting, parallax in a low-powered scope like the one we are talking about is really not an issue.  And, to be sure, most of the shooting I'll be doing with the AR will be under 150m.  Mostly under 100m. really!

Any thoughts on the overall robustness of the scope?

Thanks,
Old SF
