It will be interesting to see if they prevail. Without reading through the entire patent to see what specialized insights and methods they bring to the subject of ranging and angular adjustments, it seems doubtful. Any technology or method that is based on widely-known scientific fundamentals is hard to have all to yourself. I can't go out and patent gravity or drag. Nor the models based on them, which have been part of the public domain for many years.

I did read one section, which was amusing. They mention the "Rifleman's Rule" and how flawed it is then proceed to list their highly technical methods for overcoming those flaws. About all you need to know is the "Improved Rifleman's Rule." Instead of applying the angle cosine to the distance, you apply it to either your drop or come-up.

I don't think it will ever amount to anything.  Its exactly what you said you can't patent scientific fundamentals.  It be like some putting a patent on the fact that 2+2=4 only a lot more scientific.
