Anybody try either of these? FOV is a bit on the small side. My concern is mainly the 10mm eye relief. Does it take a lot of time to get set to viewing with these. I want to look in the binoculars and see immeditely.

The compactness is a plus.

Tero,

I owned the 8x32s for a time about a year ago. The image was quite bright for such a compact bin. Eye relief on that configuration was not an issue and I was actually quite fond of the compactness. Downside? Well, they use(d) Bk-7 instead of Bak-4 glass in the prisms and, at the time, they were not phase coated. The latter has changed but I have not had a time to take a look through them again.

Tero,

I got a pair of the 6X32's early in the summer and have used them a lot.  They are very good, especially for the money.  Evidently the upgrades helped.  I wear glasses and easily get a full view.

Seems like they are pretty good at 6x and 8x. I am not badly in need of 8x, but I would get an different 8x32 probably to replace my store brand (Bass Pro Shop) one. The 10x has me a bit puzzled yet, and interested. There is a poor selection of 10x30s in this price class.

Some manufacturer should take the plunge and put out a 9x32, with FOV about 300-315ft. That would be my ideal mid size.(I have a 9x25 reverse porro)

Tero,

Most optics manufacturers have been around for quite a long time. If the market for a product does not exit that is why they have not taken the plunge.

The companies selling 9x and 11x seem to be "mostly" those geared towards astronomy, and obviously not in compact versions.

Yes, but we know the limits of the 10x30, so to make them a more relaxed binocular, you could design a 9x32 or 9.5x32 to help out a bit.

There may be some 10x30 models I would be comfortable with but they are in the over 600 category.

I am perfectly happy with 10x42, I just like to play with all the formats. I often take two bins birding and comapre them. When I use an 8x, I take the 9x25 along for moral support.

I do want to see the Leupolds, but still in search of affordable 10x30s with FOV 290-315 ft.

One Kowa 10x32 seems interesting. Never seen Kowa bins, only the scopes.
