So i recently bought a Cooper Arms .270 and im still tryin to decide what kinda glass to throw on it. i own a A bolt in 7mag with a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10 and i gotta say thats one of the nicest scopes ive ever looked through. i also have a VXII on my 700 CDL in 30 06 and i honestly cant tell too much of a difference between the too. With this new .270 im willing to spend around 800 or so for a new scope, so i have alot of options it seems like. ive been lookin at those VX-Ls in 3.5-10 and they seem pretty nice, i like the idea of mounting a large objective lower on the rifle so you dont have to lift your head off the stock to get good alignment with the scope. Just wondering what kind of opinions you guys have on this new weird lookin scope, or if anyone has one hows it workin for ya. oh yea and when i hear folks talking about the Zeiss "MC" scopes, is that something new for the Conquest line. I bought my Zeiss about 7 years ago so maybe they've changed somthin.

I cant really get used to the half moon thing on the Leu. I tend to like to dial in correction for trajectory compensation so I would be looking for a scope with target knobs and I will suggest a couple for you to consider.

6234 Kahles 3-10x50 Helia CL Multizero 51723, Matte finish, 1" tube, plex reticle, side focus, fast focus eye piece, Allows you to zero your scope at five different ranges, no ring marks, close to new condition. $1,315.00 $749.95

While the Trijicon does not have the ability to dial in correction like the others it has a huge advantage with its bindon aiming concept its incredibly deadly.

I mounted a Swaro AV 3-10 X 42 on my Cooper. IMO, it's about perfect!

hey ive heard that scopes with AO or side parallax adjustments are more sensitive to parallax error. so if i get that Zeiss with side focus and leave it at 100 yards it would be that same as a scope with a pre set parallax of 100 yards?? the only time ive had issues with parallax is with a Leupold VX-I 4.5-14 shootin at 14 power. never even seen it with my Zeiss 3.5-10. hmmm

The VX-L is a pretty good scope.  My Dad has one on an A-bolt but thinks it should be better for the price.  I have compared it side-by-side with my Sightrons and tend to agree with him.  I even took his hunting a couple of days and could not see where it's worth the extra dough.  If I were you, stick with another Zeiss or consider one of these; I have the one on the bottom and it tracks great too.

Meopta 4-12x40 or 3-10X50 would also be very nice with out breaking the bank.

I would probably recommend IOR 2.5-10x42 if it wasnot above your $800 limit.

Aside from that, Zeiss Conquest is a very nice choice.  Can't really go wrong with that.

Leupold VX-L has never really impressed me much and I am not big on that cut-out (I also do not trust its long term ability to keep moisture out, since irregularly shaped things are hard to seal).

If you do not mind 3" eye relief, Meopta Meostar scopes are exceptionally nice and within your price range.  Kahles scopes (either KX line or something from samplelist) are also an excellent choice as are Swarovski American scopes.

Not sure which exact rifle you have, but most Coopers I have seen are very trim rifles, so I would go with a scope that has an objective lens no bigger than 40-42mm.

I would be looking at one of these:

Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40
Meopta Meostar 4-12x40
Kahles KX 3-9x42
Swarovski American 3-9x36

Not exactly sure how to address these two statements, other than to say, "If you can't tell a difference, why pay a difference!"

It might help us to know what you plan to use this set up for.... hunting, targets, plinking?  Will it be your go-to whitetail gun?  The more info we have the better suggestions we can give.

+1!  Those would be my choices as well (although I have no personal experience with the Meostars and would probably favor the other 3 instead).  If you can find one, I would also include the now-discontinued Kahles CL 2-7X36 as well.  It's a fantastic little scope, and it's very compact, so it would look nice on your rifle.  2-7X is all the magnification you really need for most big game hunting, and you have a very large field of view on the low end with this scope.

i have to agree with koshkin about the trim objective bell, makes sense that you wouldn't want  a huge objective lens on such a trim little rifle. i bought the cooper "classic" and i plan to make it my new deer gun, ive been luggin around a Abolt in 7mm mag with a 26 inch barrel with a conquest scope for ever. i bought my dad a remi 700 BDL in 30-06 for his bday a few years back and loved how it felt with that shorter tube and nice trim stock so i figured it was time to upgrade. i guess you can never have enough rifles.

well i actually bought him that rifle before i had the chance look at those CDLs, which are super nice from what i heard, cant go wrong with remington. that BDL is just about perfect for huntin the wisconsin woods though. i think the only other rifle i might want would be a nice compact lever gun in 30-30 or maybe that new marlin .308 with a 2-7 of some sort...someday. so all these opinions got me thinkin, maybe ill wait a few months, save some cash and get one of those swaros or maybe a kahles. im sure itd be worth it considering its gonna sit on top that wonderfully accurate cooper.

kelso, sorry, I got mixed up on who posted what and thought you were thinking about getting another remington.  I'd put one of these on your Cooper!

hey dont worry about it, i was lookin at those CDLs for months until i found cooper arms. so those scopes are slightly used huh. which web sight is selling those. i think koshkin posted a couple too awhile back. wow ive actalluy never even looked though a swaro. im sure their amazing. from lookin at those pics they look brand new to me and 700 to 900 bucks is what im goin for on price.  wow just looked at that 3-9 on SWFA. I like the look of swaros plex reticle too. Hey do you know if anyone makes target turrets that could go on either on of those?

FWIW, It has been said on this forum thousands of times by people more knowledgeable than me, the difference between an excellent  scope and a good scope is more noticeable as the light grows dimmer.

Multizero is working fine, but it is best when set up for a particular load.  What I like about it the most is that it gives a hard zero stop.  I do not have to be look at the turret to verify that the scope is back to the zeroed setting.
