Been looking at this scope(VX-III 4.5-14X40mm)  for my 22-250, most shots will be under 400 yds, considered the Boone and Crocket reticles. Does anyone have this scope(and reticles) that they could give me some feed back on? You guys shooting the Leupolds out there, what  scope models and reticles are you shooting with? Thanks

I'm using that very scope with the Varm. Hunter reticle though on a Savage Striker 243 WSSM. I have a tgt. elevation turret only on it, and it's one of my very favorite ballistic reticles (i like direct windage reference in my reticles when i can get it). I think it's one of the best ballistic reticles going, although the windage system for my load is about .5 of advertised (10 mph stadia = actual 20 mph compensation ).

If you're only going to go to 400 yds. with a 22-250 though, u really don't need it. Just get a duplex or wide duplex, and apply it as a ballistic reticle. IMO the best short range ballistic reticles are the plex reticles themselves.

Please note there is a huge reason to buy the side focus "LONG RANGE"  one that has the 30 mm tube because it has  100 moa adjustment range and that is very important at longer range.  I have one with the wide duplex range estimating reticle but would rather have the varmit reticle with the 10mph and 20 mph wind marks. The true tactical Mark 4 scopes are easier to dial in your windage and elevation correction and if you do this all you really need is duplex and a laser rangefinder. You can use the mil dot to estimate range also.

Urimaginaryfrnd, the price on this guy is starting to get alittle out of my range, also I don't think I really understand how this side adjustment (LR) works. Is there a site where it is explained out some?
