I am a little confused by the leupold model designations.

For instance I am looking at a vxII 4-12x40 AO with the LR reticle. This scope apparently has the multicoat 4R lens coating system.

My understanding (which may well be wrong) is that when leupold upgrade their scopes they do it across the range. for instance when they bought out the VXIII the variXIII became the VXII. When they bought out the new vx-3 line did the new VXII's then get the same len's/coatings that the VXIII line had (ie is the vxII I am investigating pretty much a VXIII?)

Can some one clarify?

thanks in advance
