I am shopping for a scope for my new Model 70 Coyote Light .25 WSSM.  At Cabelas today I was recommended to the Leupold VXII 4-12X50 matte finish.  I'm going to be hunting all kinds of varmints and whitetail on a south Texas ranch and I'd also like to use it for night hunting, including hogs.

Then, tonight, here on Riflescopes.com I ran accross the ATN 4-12X60 Professional 30mm riflescope that REALLY has me interested!  Not only does it have the slightly larger objective lens, it also has an illuminated reticle which would be really helpful at night AND it has a 1000-yard range finder built in!  Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the bullet drop compensator because they don't have the cams for a .25 WSSM.  The price is only $379 for the ATN scope- compared to $450 for Leopold!

I know the difference that good coatings can make but I don't know which coating are which.  The ATN has "Proshield" & "Everlight" coatings and the Leupold has the Multicoat 4. Does anyone know which is better and to what degree- is it significant enough to make one significantly better than the other, taking into account the larger diameter of the ATN scope?

Also, I couldn't find any warranty listed on Riflescopes.com for the ATN scope- what is it?  I don't know anything about ATN although I've seen their name around for a number of years; what's the deal with them - are they any good?  Does ATN have a good reputation and do they produce a quality product?

I could sure use some advice here from some people that really know scopes, these particular companies and have very low light/moonlight hunting experience, if possible.  Any help y'all can give me in deciding which scope would be better would sure be appreciated!

Happy Independence Day y'all!

Nick

ATN scopes are absolute crap.  If you buy anything from them stick to the NV stuff.
