Looking to scope a 30-06 with a VX6 2-12X42 and would normally just go with the FireDot Duplex but saw the FireDot 4 and it looks interesting. I'm tempted to give it a try but thought I should get some input first. The gun will be used for everything from deep woods whitetails to tundra caribou out to 400 yds.

I have not seen the Fire Dot #4, but I have and really like my VX-R with the Fire Dot Duplex.

I'm a big fan of the German #4 and would suspect that with the Fire Dot, it would be a great reticle for the type of hunting you described. I sorta wish I went with the Fire Dot #4 instead of the Duplex, but I got a great deal from SWFA on the Sample List.

I still might get a VX-R 2-7x and will go with the Fire Dot #4 for sure.

I'm tossing between the two myself.
My thoughts only,
The firedot duplex would be simular to a trijicon accupoints( the crosshair dots not the post and triangle)and a lot of people think these to be fast and one of the best illuminated reticles. Also it would be a less clutter reticle.

The firedot 4 ,maybe it helps draw your eye to the centre of the reticle, the 4 is a good low light reticle and a illuminated dot may just make it better. If the battery die on you out on a hunt you still have a good low light 4 reticle.

It would to hear others opinions, either reticle would be good.
Sorry I'm not much help, just my 2 cents.

I prefer the #4 myself. I just like the absence of a top vertical heavy bar. To me, an uncluttered view is more desirable.

+1 on the Fire Dot 4   The #4's just seem to work well in the hunting field.
