I was wanting to know yall's opinion on these 3 scopes. I can get a 3.5-10X50 VX-3 for about $580 or a 3.5-10X40 VX-3 for $500. THe Conquest is abot $500 for a 3-9X40 and the Meopta R1 is about $650 for a 3.5-10X50 but also is a 30mm. Which would be a better scope? Which has better glass? I curious about the Boone & Crockett reticle Leupold offers as well as Zeiss' Rapid Z 600. I'm still researching for my Browning BAR .270 rescoping efforts. I like the idea of a BDC reticle that allows me to shoot longer distances. Most of my whitetail hunting will have a max of 150-250 yards; but there will be an occasion or 3 that will give me 400 yard shots. I don't want to pass up a nice trophy because I don't have the right gear. Would turrets work better...like the ones from "Kenton Industries". I have a scope now that I dial up for the distance and REALLY like that..but its a piece of crap compared to the scopes listed above (a $150 6-24x40 Tasco World Class Trajectory..as far as I can tell no longer made). Gimme some insight guys---Bboy623...Cause I'm going Loco

If the Meopta eye relief is really 3.1" that doesn't sound too great, to rule out scopes on my quest I'm using 3.5" and higher as a requirement.  I want to lessen my chances of getting it in the eye if I don't have the perfect stock-to-shoulder placement using improvised field shooting positions.

I just bought a VX-3  4.5x14x40 Long Range, (LR) means 30mm tube. This scopes has the he CDS (Custom Dial System)  So you find a load for your 270 that you like like a 130gr TSX BT or WHATEVER and you call Leupold and for 60.00 they make you the turret for that Cailber.. So you install the turret  yourself and you practice , practice , practice so that way you know where your shooting at say 400 yeards with your new Rifle/Scope and Dial.. Then if and when the time comes you range your game with your RF and dial it in to 400 or what ever and shoot.. Now for myself? Thats providing there is no wind or its barely blowing so the shot will not be over in the Jones Horse Corral. I seriously doubt if I will be taking any shots over 400 yards at this point. But next year at this time it that may change. My wife and I are loading up some 110gr. TSX BT 270 WSM loads right now to go try .. I KNOW NOTHING of the other scopes you mentioned. I own Swaro and Leupold and a beat-up old Burris Fullfield thats witnessed alot of Deer shot...Ive heard GREAT things about Zeiss and hopefully I will buy the 3.5x10x50 Rapid Z600. Right now theyare 75.00 off at SWFA. Im sure these other guys can help you more than me.

All good scopes Meopta will have the best glass of the the three brands and thier eye relief is listed as being on the short side but I've had no problems with the two i have one on a 300WBY the other on a lightweight 280 REM. The new VX3 is a improvement in the glass department over the VXIII and between the VX3 and the Conquest it is to close to call for my eyes but a little behind the R1.

Conquest.  And I wouldn't run a 50mm on a BAR or any big game rifle for that matter.  3-9x40 or 3.5-10x44 Zeiss Conquest will be all you ever need.

I have experience with these three scopes and find them to be excellent, durable scopes.  The optical differences between these three are minor, especially when sighting in on an animal.  I put a 3-9X40 Conquest Rapid Z600 on my Model 7 7mm-08, and it makes for a nice package.  I don't believe Meopta has a ballistic reticle yet, but they do have a mil-dot that can serve has a holdover reticle (without windage).  The Boone and Crockett and Rapid Z are supposed to work well.  I am still working on a load for the 7-08,  but I have high hopes for the Rapid Z600.

I think you will be pleased with any of those scopes.

The Meopta ballistic reticle actually looks like a great one, the favorite #4 with extra goodness.

I have the conquest and love it, it's mated to a Tikka T3 light in 7mm-08. I wish I had that new reticle but not worried about it I am going to make up a 20" scale deers chest height and set it out at 100, 200, 300 . All you have to do with this scope is set it at 9x focus it out about 400 yards and you are gtg as far as any parralax or focusing, that's it done! When you adjust the zoom the focus and parralax adjustment is automatic. Zoom to 9x shoot the x, zoom to 3x shoot the x, almost same hole no adjustments I love the simplicity. I am just starting to get into reloading and fully expect this combo to get me out to 400 yards without any problems. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets out to 500 yards. All this in a 7 lb package!!
