I am in the process of ordering a new scope. I am thinking of a new VX3 in the 4.5-14 range. I would like some way of dialing in longer ranges. I know you can send one in and have it done through Leupold but they add longer turrets and I don't know how much that costs. I don't know if Kenton has the option for this scope with the shorter knobs. Any help?

I've been on the leupold custom shop web site checking out the posibility of modifying one by adding either target knobs or M1 tactical knobs. It really is not that much more to custom order the scope the way you want it. Not only will they put custom target knobs on they will also custom engrave  the bdc data on for a lot less money than a kenton knob if its all done at once.  https://customshop.leupold.com/    I show $889.96 for a 30 mm tube 4.5-14x50 duplex with target elevation and target windage and marked BDC info on the elevation.   I really think I could guess wind and only add the target elevation.  If you took the less expensive way and went 4.5-14x40 one inch tube added only target elevation and maked BDC elevation  you are at $659.97 but check because each feature cost different.   I was thinking a FX3 6X42 with target elevation ($429.98)  or a VX3 1.5-5 x20 illuminated with M1 knobs  would be cool but every time I get close to buying one I realize that for a little more it could be something like and IOR or a Trijicon.  Problem is I cant buy them all.

I don't want to buy the scope from the custom shop cause I can get it for under $600. I guess I could send it in and get just the elevation knob and bcc. Now I guess I have to decide if I want either the leupold, monarch, or 4200.
