This is not what you might think. I'm not attempting to stoke the "this vs that" controvery. I've purchased a used Tikka T3 lite .223 from my brother. I'm buying is, sight unseen. That may sound a little risky, the sight unseen part, but I know where he lives, so to speak. It's his MT prairie dog unit and it shoot very well. Anyway, he's got a VX-2 on it, a 3-12X42, I believe. I'll pick the rifle up tomorrow at the "mother's day bash." I'm wondering what the VX-2 glass is like.
I've got a Sightron S2 mounted on my 270 WSM and I'm pleased with the that. It's bright, sharp and clear. From someone who has used both those scopes, how would you compare them? |

S2 has better glass than VX-2.
VX-II is not a bad scope (I am guessing you mean a 4-12x40), and I would not be in too much of a rush to change it. Look through it first. It is a perfectly serviceable scope. Leupolds hold their value well. For as long as the scope is in good condition, you can always sell it and buy something with better glass instead. ILya |

Koshkin - thanks for the suggestion. I'm sufficiently pleased with the Sightron that I'm looking for an excuse to put on a Big Sky for varminting. This is where the Leupold's holding their value is useful. Some cost would be offset and I'd be looked upon at home as less of the spendthrift.
However, in line with your suggestion, I'm in no hurry. He reported very good results with the rifle and scope. I'll do some local coyote shooting and then wring it our good on autumn prairie dogs. Thanks. |
