Is anyone using this 1x dot scope?

I am thinking of buying one for a rimfire pistol or muzzleloader.

I did a search but came up empty on this site.

I am interested in more hands-on information about it as well.  I would really like to know how big the dot it.  Leupold's website does not show that.

Posts like this normally spur me to action.  I just got off the phone with Leupold.  They said the scope isn't available yet and should be shipping by February or March 2008.  They said the dot is currently set to be 6.5 MOA.  They also said that a different reticle which will be a cross within an outer circle will be available a few months later.

That is interesting.  They are listed on competitor right now.

I did a google search and they were listed in quite a few places?

I called them also a week ago to ask more questions and it sounded like they were not quite ready to sell it?

I can wait.  I think this would be a very nice sight for my model 41 .22 pistol.

I also need a sight for muzzleloader in wisconsin that is a 1x.

I guess I will wait until they have more info....

Thank you for giving them a call.

I would recommend the aimpoint with the 2moa dot for the musket as 2 inches at 100 yards is the same as 4 inches at 200 yds and I find my musket  50 cal using Barnes 250 gr and 120 to 150 grains of tripple 7 drops 10 to 12 inches between 100 and 200 yds. With that in mind a scope with a 6.5 moa dot with be 13 in at 200 yds therefore not a good choice out past 100 yds. As for the pistol you might try it as that translates to 3.25 inches coverage at 50 yds which should be tighter than you can hold the group without a rest.

I told the guy at Leupold that I would be very interested in the scope if they were to offer it with a 2-3 MOA dot.  I really like black dot/red dot combination scopes.  He made it sound like the scope was only designed for CQB applications, not for any type precision shooting at all.

I just got an Aimpoint CompC3 (2 MOA) last week and mounted it on my Tromix Saiga .223.  It is a very nice scope, but the dot can blur depending on where I focus my eyes, which I do not like at all.

I currently have a red dot from aim point.  It is several years old and has taken quite a few deer.  My only problem with it is the dot is no longer a nice looking dot.  It has elongated over time.  I am not sure if this is correctable or not.  It is an aim point comp site I am guessing it is over 10 years old.  The new sight from Leupold has an etched reticle or dot.  I would think the circle with a cross would work quite well on a muzzleloader or pistol.

I like the look of the new mini dots from aimpoint too.  I just dont like the thought of the dot enlarging or failing later on very much.
