Hi Folks, long time lurker, first time poster!

Absolutely love the depth of knowledge here.

Question is: The recently announced Leupold Tactical 10x50 sure looks like the 10x50 Olympic?  Is there any difference between the two regarding coatings or something else I might be missing?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know for sure, but i did notice that resemblance. Most likely, they are the same binocular with different rubber, and with a reticle for the Tactical.

I found the 10x50 to be a very decent bino for the price, though i prefer a bit more field of view.

Why would a hunter need a pair of binoculars with that kind of reticle? Is it useful for range-finding?

Mil Dot reticle definitely useful for ranging.  Although I am not thinking of the mil dot model specifically.  It is offered sans reticle, and then you would only be upgrading the exterior over the Olympic?

Any other suggestions down in the this range $400-$500 for a 10x50?

Thanks

Nikon has recently come out with a 10x56 in their Monarch line.  I have seen it advertised for right at $400.  I think I would prefer this one over the Leupold options.

Minox has a new 10x52 they just introduced. I don't however, know what its price point is.

I just did a quick check and it looks like this Minox bincular is in the $900+ category.  This would appear to be just a bit beyond your stated price range.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?
