Hi There, I am looking to purchase a new spotting scope and thinking of going with Leupold. The primary usage is target shooting out to a 1000 yards. There are 2 I am looking at and not quite sure which to go for...one is HD glass whereas I dont believe the other is, however the non HD is more expensive which is mainly due to the increased optic capapability...however, looking for another view. The 2 I am looking at are: Leupold Golden Ring 20-60x80mm (not HD glass...it use to be but that option is no longer available?) Leupold Golden Ring 12-40x60mm HD Anyone able to offer up some advice? Thanks, DSJ |

Looking for bullet holes at 1000 yards I would go with the largest objective and best quality glass I could afford. I am using a Kowa TSN 82 sv, but never have tried it on targets at that range, the longest range I have is 200 yards. At that range .22 holes are a cinch using a 27x long eye relief eyepiece, with a 20-60 zoom they can appear rather large.
