Okay....here is my issue. I have two of the VX-L 4.5x14 50mm scopes. Haven't sighted them in for quite some time. One is on my wifes rifle and the other on my 338 win mag. Going pig hunting this weekend, so was going out this week to sight in.

After reviewing information on the Big Game Reticle and the Varmint Reticle I became confused. When I purchsed these, the salesman knew I was hunting deer, elk and pigs. When I look at the manual and on the scope itself it doesn't say which reticle it is. However the book shows the Big Game with thicker bars and the Varmint with thin. These two scopes have thin bars. Did the salesman sell me the Varmint instead of the Big Game?

I can work with either, but does anyone know if there is a way to tell which is which?

Thanks

The varmint reticle has thin hairs. Go to Leupold's web sight ad take a look at the reticles.

I have the fine duplex on my VX3 (375 ruger) and you can make it work.  I have tried it on pigs at night and have missed a few huge pigs because I could not pick up the cross hair.  I use a Burris FF2 2-7x35 for the pigs now.
