I just got a new 2.5-8x36 vx-iii and it came with one of those neoprene scope covers in the box.  The 1.75-6x32 vx-iii that I bought last year didnt come with one.  Is this a new thing or did I just get shorted on the one from last year?

Yes, it is a new thing, all the new scopes comming out ("T" serial #'s) have the neoprene sleves as aposed to the cloth blankets.

Thats cool I guess.  I like the blankets but once the scope is mounted it is basically useless.  How much are the sleeves?

By "T" do you mean the last letter of the Ser. #?  My last scope is an R

The sleeves are free with the scope but they can also be purchased for around $20.  Yes, the "T" refers to the last letter in the serial#.  This is how we keep track of what year the scope was manufactured.  You're "R" scope was manufactured last year in 2007.  We skipped "S" and went straight to "T" for this year, I suppose the "S" can be confused with the number 5.Big%20Smile

They are nice to have when storing or transporting, they offer some protection and also keep your lenses nice and clean, the less you have to clean your lenses the better.  Im not sure if do the tire tube thing myself, I try to keep abrasive materials as far away as possible.

Nice one Ed, now all we need are some Leupold panchos to go with our navajo scope covers!!!!Smoking%20Bandit
