Chaps my shorts . . .

Purchased a Rem. 700P w/ Leupold Mark 4, 6.5 - 20x 50mm Mil Dot. Mark 4 rings/base. Bad enough the NICS check w/ state police was backed up and they delayed me for a month. We got that straightened out in three days. Then, returned to the shop to pick up the hardware, the "staff" there says, "let me bore site that w/ the collimeter."

I figure he knows what he's doing, that he wouldn't go after a $1200.00 scope unless he'd done it before.

He sets up the collimeter in the bore, fingers the vertical adj. knob, grabs it tight and reefs on it . . . hard. The whole assy snaps off in his hand! He's breached the integrity of the seals and let the gas out of the tube! Whacko

So, the scope needs to be sent back to Leupold for "service" (Mind you, I haven't taken possession of it yet.) and so he grabs a hex allen key out of the tools and starts to go after the torx heads! Whacko

I flagged him on that play! Excellent

Leupold assures me that MY scope will be "as new" when it's returned, or they'll provide me with a new one.  (That's why I'm a die hard Leupold client.)

In the interim, I purchased a Leupold Zero Point Boresighter collimeter from Midway. I'll mount my own scope, thanks all the same!

But jeez . . . I could be out workin' on sub MOA stuff.

Sorry, but I've learned the hard way not to provide too much personal data online. Last time I posted details about myself, it ended up on Craig's List under "erotic services."

Seriously!

"We could tell ya, then we'd have to kill ya . . . "

But thanks for the welcome!

Oculus, you've got a good sense of humour, perhaps even warpped, you'll fit in nicely. Great forum, good info and funny, perhaps even warpped, people here.

SWFA is a sponsor?

Oregon -- If someone starts stalking me, I'm gonna stalk YOU!

I sorta do bullet drop & hold over in my head. But what I'm shooting is bench stuff. Mostly I'm working on getting the holes all in the same spot. We can move the spot later; it's not going to run off.

A Mil-Dot Master would be a handy item.

I should be out on the bench . . .

Noooooooooooo . . .

The shop is doing all the "service" legwork. Leupold assures me it will be "new" when I get it, or they'll replace it with new and take up the malfeasance w/ the shop.

Leupold is excellent Customer Service.

But I have a new rifle now and no optics. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Head Banger

I'd be asking for my money back and buying it from SWFA. I wouldnt want new repaired if I paid for new I'd want new otherwise I would expect to be compensated for my inconvenience in some manner either a discounted price or something. Sounds like a very frustrating situation to me.   You could likely have one second day air from SWFA and probably at a better price if you told them what it was costing you.

Going on a week now, no scope. Leupold guarantees it will be NEW, pristine, virginal, etc.

But I'm still having to do the 70 mi. drive -- three times so far.
