Might as well buy brand new.

Older models of the Katmai were manufactured using BK 7 prisms which were not phase coated.

Models just prior to discontinuation were manufactured with BAK 4 prisms which were phase coated.

I purchased the Phase Coated Leupold Katmai 6x32mm several years ago for my wife.

Although she & I both enjoyed using it in the beginning, now we both prefer higher magnification binoculars than 6x.

Myself, I prefer the w i d e r FOV and the extra magnification of my Nikon 7x35 Porro prism binoculars over the 6x32mm.

MY Nikon 7x35 Gold Ring Sentinel binoculars are visibly sharper than the Leupold 6x32mm Katmai.
The focus wheel on the Nikon is slower than the focus wheel on the Leupold Katmai; I prefer the slower focus.

Edit: made links "hot"

+1 on the 6-6.5x range. They work real well for the intended purpose. Longer eye relief and larger fov makes a nice combination. Plus I like the idea you can close focus at 3ft.  I also use them for night time hunting and have liked results.
The Katmai's reviews here at OT. is a good start.

I really like the Katmai, and it is a catch.  I bought one for my wife, who wears glasses.

I noticed someone suggested the Meopta (which are generally awesome products) but I haven't handled the 6.5.  I have the Vortex 6x32 Viper HD and it is SWEET.  Here is a mini-review I posted on the Katmai...

I would certainly agree with that. I can say that my 6.5x Meopta is one of my favorite binoculars, and even though it is a few ounces heavier than the Katmai, I would still prefer it.

There is a place that is selling demo 6.5x Meopta Meopro for $239. PM me if you can't find it.....
