how does the scope do at 150yds? i really want to buy and mount this scope on a 336 30-30 because of it's size and the abilty to make quick shots at close moving game, but am afraid if a mouster buck give me a shot at 150yds it won't have enough power to make a clean shot. most of my shots will be under 75yds in the woods in low light. I was also considering the heavy duplex some say it's to thick thanks dale

Although I'm no expert, It ought to be fine at that range.

Could you take the shoot at 75yds with open sights? Hens no magnification. If you would be ok with that then 150yds with a 2x would be the same image size.

I don't always subscribe to that. The one focal plane with the reticle is a bit easier to use than irons. Some people have a harder time with the two of iron sites. Of course an aperture can help there.
Regardless, the 2.5 should be fine for that range.

will warne rings and bases work with this scope? the warne rings mount over mounting holes in receiver most mounts are offset and the rings are mounted more foward . i was thinking sence this scope is so short the warnes will work.

If low light is your main need, I would get something a little different.  I have the 4x version of that scope on my 45-70.  While it is not bad in low light, I would certainly want something a little different if that were to be my main use.

This would serve you much better both because of better glass and because of the lit reticle.

Actually, i was looking at the same scope and thinking of installing it on a rimfire (CZ 452 FS, with QD rings). Would this work for 50 yard shooting, or would eye placement and parallax wreak havoc on groups?
Thanks

Parallax setting is on the Leupold website so might have to just give them a quick call...it probably is for 50 or 75 yards.

I had the 2.5X scout scope and found it good out to 200 yards. The exit pupil on the 20mm objective at that magnification is more than enough. You might also consider the 4x33. I shot on a running elk at 35 yards last year and got it. So it can be done. However, that did make me consider lower power scopes as well as variables. Had it been 75 yards, the 4X wouldn't have bothered me at all. I hunt heavy timber dialed down to 2.5 on my variable.
