What are the opinions on the new FX II 4x33 with plex reticle. Are they worth the $270.00? Is the Zeiss 4x32 the better option?

I think that is gonna be a unanimous YES, the Conquest is the better option.  If a VX3/FX3 is kind of close to a Conquest how could an FX-II compare?

You can get the IOR 4x for about $300 too.

The one VX-II that I saw at a local fish, tackle, & guns store didn't even seem to be at the level of a Nikon Buckmaster, Burris Fullfield 2, etc.

Maybe there is a new version of FX-II/VX-II that you just found out about, if it's just a different trim though I don't think it's worth $270.

I bet compared to the FX-II 4x33 this Weaver is as good or better at $134.95 http://swfa.com/Weaver-4x38-Classic-K-Rifle-Scope-P5054.aspx

I would have to agree with the above the Zeiss is way out of an FXII league the VXIII would be closer and still give the edge the Zeiss.

The VXII series is as stated closer to a Buckmaster or a Burris Full Field and even then I'd still get the others cause they are still considerably cheaper in cost.

For that kind of money I'd definitely go Zeiss.  The FXII can't compare.  I don't know if it's still on but there was some kind of deal on 4x and the 1.8?x5.5 Conquest thru Zeiss.

I just bought an FX-2 for my 45-70 and to be honest I was pretty impressed with the glass.  I have not tested it really against anything, but I did take it out at twilight and after dark and I could easily make stuff out with it.  Now whether they are good enough I will be able to make out antlers or not at those same times, I guess we will see.

I chose it because it had the smallest overall eyepiece, both in length and diameter.  It is on a Marlin lever gun.  Plus it has more eye relief than the IOR.

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.
