Would appreciate any comments on this reticle as compared to the Burris Ballistic Plex. Considering a scope for a 700 VSF in .308. Will use for whitetail out to 400 yds. and various targets, ie. gallon jugs, steel disks, paper, out to 600 yds. The mil-dot seems too complicated for my small mind!

B&C should work just fine-- i use the Varmint Hunter reticle on a Savage Striker 24 cal. and it gets me to 530 yds. with a 225 yd. zero. I also have several Ballistic Plex reticles, and like them also. BUT i do appreciate having direct windage reference in the reticle-- which is much easier with reticles like Leupolds. Here's the reticle systems i really like-- but they do take some manipulating to get them to work with cartridges other than those they're designed for--

Actually,

Even after Leupold sent me their specific "how-to" on their new ballistic Boone and Crockett reticle I found it to be really complex to remember everything that they said to do and in whatever order.  I really like the fact that Burris sends you a complimentary tabular table that you can use with whatever caliber and even stick it right to the side of your scope or butt stock of your gun.  It gives the corrections at different yardages and calculates everything right in there with whether or not your actual shot will correspond with what they are telling you to do.

Of course the upside to all of this is that you are still free to go out tothe range, perhaps  I should say really encouraged to go out to the range and find out exactly where you are hitting with where you are aiming.  I had bought one of the Ballistic Mil dot Signature scopes before Leupold came out with their Boone, and Crockett Configs, and I find the Burris system so much easier to use.  I have one in Black Diamond now too, and I can tell you that I feel Burris is simple and worth it, at less than what Leupold wants to charge you for their confusion.

              Sincerely,

                   Scott
