Leupold vx3  3.5-10x40 Duplex or Conquest 3-9x40 for dusk and on into the nite with a light. Which one now?   I almost had already ordered the zeiss after much consideration, I couldn't see spending 80 dollars more for the leupold. But this changes things. For my purposes, it was a toss up except for price and warranty "turn around time". Now I have to BUY AMERICAN.

Get the one you want.
It is your money and if you buy the scope other people tell you to buy, and then, you are not pleased with it, not a good thing.
I have a number of Leupy's (VX-3's & Mark 4's) and I do quite well with them.
For others, I'm sure the same thing could be said of the Conquest.

I am not disagreeing with your choice, but the Conquest is made in the USA as well.

I wouldn't let the $80 be the last deciding factor. Get the one you truely want, or you'll be replacing it later.

I realize zeiss is providing some jobs here in the USA, but the scopes are only assembled here. Yes, leupold uses some offshore components, but for the most part they are "made in the USA" by an American company. . It's no deal breaker, but when I can I spend what little money I have on American products. I have no prior experience with zeiss scopes, but I've been researching this purchase for over a year, and am confident the zeiss scopes are really fine products, and I have nothing against german products. Maybe someday if the financial picture changes I might own one. Thanks for the reply, I surely don't want to start another leupold/zeiss war.   :)

Thanks Ernie.
This is probably the only "upper end"(not a s&b) scope I'll ever buy, so I did a lot of research.  Wish I could afford both. Then I could look through both of them side by side in the environment in which they will be used, but that's not likely to happen. So, I depend on folks like you guys for guidance. I'm sure either one would serve my purposes.  Thanks for the reply.   Gary

Gary,
I have never owned a Zeiss rifle scope, so I can't give a good comparison.
I have used (don't own one) a couple of 3.5-10's though and they are a good scope.

Ordered one (vx3 3-9x40) from COMPETITOR online. $457 to my door, minus the $80 rebate= $377.
Thanks to all for the input, not only in this thread, but for all the info you guys share.   Gary

I own both scopes although the VX-3 is not mounted yet, I did a side by side comparison at Dusk, to my untrained eye, I cannot tell the difference. I sold a vari-XIII last year and bought the Zeiss, I believe the ziess was better in low light than the vari-xIII, but I cannot tell a difference in the Conquest 3x9 and the VX-3 3.5x10. Both are in 40mm

Are you sure you purchased a VX3 and not a VXIII? I do not think they make a VX3 in 3-9x40. If it is a VXIII there is no rebate on them.

Sorry.  I forgot I was on a forum sponsored by a retailer. I'm kinda new at posting on forums, mostly just read.

Yes it's a vx3, 3.5 - 10 x40, and the price and rebate(if I get it) were right.
I had been trying to decided between it and a german made scope that is 3-9x40. I got confused,,,I stay confused :)
