Would it make any sense to upgrade a perfectly functional 1995 vintage Leupold 6x42 to a 2007 model of the same type. The '95 model has friction adjustments which I rarely adjust becuse it is a hunting rifle and I have long ago settled on one load. I am more interested in an optical upgrade. I have noticed that my 6x42 while good optically is just a notch below my Redfield TX-27 4x40. Would the Multicoat 4 model be an upgrade or a waste of good money?

I thought the 6x42 was Multicoat 4 from the start of production.

There are some Kahles 6x42 AHs (older model) left on the samples list. IOR has a a 6x42 and Meotpa has 7x56. I'd try these first rather than a "L"scope. Then you can get into the Zeiss, S&B, or New Kahles money. |
