Does anyone have experience with this scope? I can't find any reviews. I was looking at 1-5x20 but ya know this one weighs even less being only 8.2 ounces. It is only half an inch longer and you get a bit more power.

use would be coyote hunting on a tikka .243. Mostly hunt timber with occasional trips to the desert.

I know the glass isn't as good as vx3 but hey its also cheaper. I'm going to beat the heck out of it. I think it might hurt a little less when I drop the rifle and it goes slideing down the hill AGAIN! Plus i'll probably spray pain it. Only thing I don't like is it doesn't come in matte and the custom shop can't do it either.

I see the eye relief is a little shorter then other scopes but that should be ok on a .243?

one big question I have is it says on the leupy site that the riflescopes parallax is set for 150 yards. I know most scopes are set to 100. Is this going to be a compromise with short range hunting? Most coyote are probably 10 to 100 yards. Might get them out to 200 pretty frequently but 300+ is very rare. Should I have the custom shop dial it down to 100? I know some scopes I have used are real blurry looking at stuff too close or too far from the parallax setting. Maybe its better on a leupold then some other scopes.

thanks in advance you guys have been a big help so far!

You don't have to worry about the parallax on a 2-7 for your purposes. The 3" of eye relief is no problem on a .243, either.
My brother had a 3-9x33 Ultralight on a .243 Tikka and liked it a lot. The thing with the 2-7 is that the smaller objective won't be very bright if you crank it up to 5-6x in low "coyote light". If you add timber to the equation, brightness becomes more of an issue.
The Leupold should be a fine little scope.

Doug

My wife has that on a little .308 Ruger compact. She loves it.

I have this feeling when you guys say its not going to be that bright in low light you comparing it to some really awesome scopes. For a casual joe like me I think I'll find it bright enough for my use. My 2.5-7x28 weaver rv7 for example does everything I need. This scope should beat that one considering it costs more then double.

There is alot to be said for small size and weight because if im tired and my arms are burning I will be shakey. I learned this with my shotguns. Yeah I swing a 7lb shotgun better and a 12 gauge gives more firepower. However I end up hitting more with my 6lbs gun because i'm not tired and can react fast with the birds flush. Less fatigue is more effect then more fire power for me.
