never been there so can't say, but after about 1000 rds through this xcr I like it even more. scope will range and shoot to 500 yds, but M885 in a carbine is a joke. The reticle will hold on pop cans to 300 yds, at 5x but somewhat iffy at 1.5 power.  The reticle works without the battery , works great in strong sunlight on high, and adjustable in various degrees of darkness. The m2 dials work and the dial is calibrated for drop, The more I use it -- it occurs that this scope would be the ideal on a heavy for hunting.

I like the scope but I think I would find it hard to select next to the IOR   1.1-4x26  the IOR 1.5-8x26 and the IOR 2-12x32.

The problem is complex because as we all know the EOTech is best up close and personal followed by Aimpoint Comp M4 which has a forever battery life and is better at mid range. Aggravate the problem by understanding that exit eye pupil being around at least 5 hopefully 7mm means that you need a larger objective of 25 rather than 20 to get to a 5mm exit eye pupil for a 5x scope and to get to a full 7mm you need at least a 35mm objective at 5x.  If we were to consider all three of these IOR and the Leupold at the 5x setting all three of the IOR scopes would be brighter and over the minimum of a 5mm exit eye pupil for good night use.  The  IOR 2-12x32 would be the brightest at a 6.4mm exit eye pupil.  I think I would go with the 2-12x32 IOR and enjoy 12x in the day and dial it down to about 4.5x at night or use it at 2x for general use and point and shoot up close.

Koshkin had one and the only reason I think he sold it is to fund his new FFP 3-18x42  IOR as he told me in a PM that it was an ideal police designated marksman scope.

Good points, UR

Now that leads me to the concept of Leupy Mk 4 2.5x8 mid range scopes.  They should have a better exit pupil calculation.  Also a nice scope and one worthy of consideration.

Also looking at Nightforces.  I love the IOR and own one.  But for Theater, I was thinking that if something did go south, Leupy would probably have best turnaround for repairs.  What say you on that point?

Something else I note:  This brings up the age-old argument; illuminated vs not.  It looks like S&B chose NOT to have an illuminated reticle version of these tac scopes.  What do they know?  I know that non-illum would be simpler.

Yes, your probably right about the repairs and IOR might not even repair it.  NXS is a great scope, cant go wrong with them and you could even get the Zero Stop....Mk4 2.5x8 would be a good choice too...I would do something like that and then put a Mini Red Dot on the side for any CQB situations.

most of leos mid range come with mildot or TMR the special purpose reticle only on the 1.5, which is unfortunate as something like a 3.5x10 with the SPR  would be outstanding. the difference in 1mm in exit pupil doesn't affect much as the contrast and resolution plays a larger role. the purpose of the 1.5 and the SPR is for CQB without an additional site, and still have extended range abilities, without sacrificing small package. the nightforce 2.5x10 offers more than leo, in this variable range.

Well, Dale.  I dood it.  Just sprung for the Leupold MR/T 2.5-8x36 with M-1 knobs and TMR reticle.

I know what you mean about the SPR reticle.  I got the military discount from Leupold direct.  I don't think I should quote the price here.  I hate to see grown men cry.  But then, every now and then the LEOs and military guys get in harms way; So I will take the discount.

Guess I will be selling my Sightron II soon.

congrats!!! I think you'll be very satisfied, especially when the price you got it for is considered.
