I do not see any reviews or thoughts on the Leupold gold ring 15-40x60 models, how do they compair to the rest of the pack in the same power range.

I think you mean the 12-40X60 Gold Ring.
 
I used the original model for a few years, and my hunting partner had the HD model until recently.
 
Frankly, I did not see much of a performance difference, including chromatic aberration control between the two versions.  both showed some mild CA.  Both are pretty sharp with moderate to good contrast.
 
The real advantage of these scopes are they are light and compact for a 60mm spotter, and have OUTSTANDING eye relief.
 
They are certainly good, field-capable spotters.

Yes, you are correct it is 12-40x60, thought about getting one for that reason of being lite, but no one talks about them. just wondering?

They aren't "new."
 
The Leupy FLP spotter has been around for a long time.
 
Still a good product.
