Anyone have any opinions on these?  Seems to good to be true to actually work and remain sharp and clear. I am very interested in these.

Genau -

I think they've only hit retailers within the past 30-60 days so I doubt if many people have had a chance to try them, including myself.  I can say that I have never looked through a dual-power set of binoculars and liked them, including the ultra high-end stuff.  I think your skepticism regarding sharpness and clarity, particularly at the 17X level are absolutely correct.  Another issue...given they apparently weigh 24 oz. I think you would have a nearly impossible time holding steady and having a pleasing image while using 17X.

As a comparison, in my opinion, the Leica Duovids in 12X do not provide the same quality image as a 12x Ultravid.

I would also like to hear from someone who has actually tried this particular pair.

I believe these are pretty new to the market.  I have handled high end mulit powered binouclars and I think the concept is pretty neat but they don't seem to perform as good as a standard power binocular in the same magnification.  At 17x that is a great deal of magnification for a field binocular and I really can't see a need for the average hunter or birder. Personally, if it was me I'd look for a good quality fixed power binocular is the same price range and I think you would be much happier with its overall performance.

Good luck

AC
