Y'all:

I have an (odd) Browning BLR:

I'm redoing the stocks at the moment, in a grade 3 walnut. Yes, the rifle has an interesting history, maybe I can talk about that later. :-)

For now, I'm in a quandry. I have currently have Bushnell firefly 2-6 Elite 3200 handgun scopes mounted on the two barrels, and am looking for something to replace them with. They're nice scopes, just looking for something possible a little nicer (always on a quest), if there is anything nicer out there. What I really wish for is a Burris 2X-7X LRS E-Dot with a ballistiplex reticle, or an aimpoint 2x with a reticle, but, alas, no such beast exists that I can find. A lit reticle is really a requirement--I don't see how people live without them, having shot e-dots and others for a time now.

So, does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? Is there some lit reticle, good light, well built scope that would work in an extended eye relief situation, with a low power range (I'd really even like a 1x to 3x scope, to be honest, but no-one makes such a beast, for reasons I don't understand).

:-)

Not that many people need a scout style scope with magnification. The mission of the scout rifle is quick close combat. At close range a quick hit is what you need. Scopes with magnification require that your head be within a set distance from the scope to be clear and in focus. Now you have a good excuse to buy another new gun, then you can get an illuminated optic with magnification.

I specifically want 2x with a reticle on this rifle.... The forward mount isn't just because it's a scout, but also becuase the barrel is removeable, and mounting the scope in the normal position would be next to impossible. 4x magnification would be okay. I have considered the Aimpoint 2x, but there's no reticle, and I really wanted something with a reticle.

Yes, apparently the scope industry seems to think there's no reason to ever want an illuminated reticle handgun or extended eye relief scope, but I don't see how people shoot without an illuminated reticle.

Thanks anyway.
