I have an uncle that was in the Merchant Marines. After he recently died, I got his Leitz  Marseptit 7X50 binoculars serial number 529034. The binoculars appear to have Bakelite eyepieces of which one is missing. The binoculars works fine, but, I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to send them somewhere for a complete cleaning and refurbishing, inside and out. I looked up the serial number and it appears that the year of production could be 1940. The binoculars are old, but, they have been "in the family" for close to 70 years.

If you think that this is a good approach, could anyone recommend a place to send them to for work? If you have any idea of the cost for the cleaning and/or refurbishing, that would be helpful too.

Thanks for the help,

Rick
