I have read through the posts and searched and did not find what I am looking for. I am looking for a new rangefinder for varmint hunting. I need real world experiences from those with the Leica or the Swarovski. I would like to be able to range bushes as far as possible. The terrain I will hunt mostly will have brushes that I can range to find distance to the dogs. My Bushnell yardage pro scout will only do bushes to about 400-450. Thanks in advance.

I can do up to 1300 on bushes with my Leica. The Swaro supposedly goes even farther.

1300 on small bushes is good enough for me especially at half the price. I just went on my first prairie dog hunt and found that hits clear out to 600-650 were easy once I found the range. Without a good rangefinder I had to use trial and error to find the correct elevation clicks.

Same here, 1300+ with my Leica crf1200. FYI - When it's Africa hot in the middle of the day, where we hunt, I can't range the same objects at those distances. Would I buy it again, hell yeah!! Edited by mike650 - October/23/2008 at 18:42 |

My Leica CRF 1200 is the same, about 1300 on brush. The Swaro is nice, but takes longer to range. Also the aiming circle is larger than the Leica easier to under or over range a target at distance. The Swaro does seem to range as far or farther. I bought the Leica and am very happy with it. Much much better than the Bushnells Nikons and Leupolds and for the money about as good as the Swaro but alot cheaper.

If you think I can range small brush at over 800 yds I think I am going to get the Leica. Thanks.

Take a look at Zeiss new monocular RF. It seems to be really a good one.
