I'm trying to decide between the #1 and German#4 Leica Reticle. I like the Zeiss zplex, but Leica reticles are thinner. So which one do you think would work best ? |

My uses would be the same as when I use a zplex . Deer and coyote hunting . yardage 100 to 300, max 400. My main concern with Leica 4a is being able to cross hairs at last light. I've no trouble with the zplex.

I have 2 Leica 2.5-10X42 ER scopes, one each with the #1 and #4a reticles.
Although the Leica 4A has relatively thin center crosshairs and the thick bars are spaced widely from center, the thick bars themselves are thick enough and the optics good enough that you can see them at the limits of legal shooting light. As long as the shooting distance isn't too far, you can pretty easily determine the POA by bracketing an animal's vitals between the thick posts. If you decide to go with the #1, there is no concern about low light reticle visibility at all. It's as bold as reticles get, and you can still aim with precision using the very tip of the triangular point on the center post. |

Thanks for all the replies.
I'm leaning towards the 4a reticle. I like the looks of the #1 reticle on paper but i have never looked at it thru a scope. |

I have the same scope and have the #1, it is great, Fast on the target, it is just as good as my Zeiss Victory FL Diavari in low light.

I have one of each in the 2.5-10 and a #1 in the 3.5-14. I like the #1 reticle. The 4a scope has target turrets so I will use that for long range. You can't go wrong with either, but I prefer the #1 with my eyes...
