My son asked me to post this question to you binocular guys.
He wants a general-purpose 10x42 roof prism and has it narrowed to the Bushnell Legend or the Vortex Diamondback, both in the $225-ish range.
 Any opinions?
I haven't had much time lately to research them and figured asking here would be the best way.

 Thanks in advance.

Which Legend?  The original or the new Ultra HD.  If he can get the Ultra HD at that price that is where I'd go.   I'd also suggest you  wait till the end of the month when Zen Ray gets the new dielectric coating ZRS HD ready for sale.  The regular ZRS was th best sub $200 binocular I have ever laid my eyes on.  Better than most clear up to $500+.

Klamath- I'm sure he was looking at the original Legend in the $225 price range, but I'd happily pay the difference in price for him to get the HDs if they are as much better as I suspect they are.

I'll have him check out the Zen-Rays, although I have personal concerns about long-term service despite the great reviews. I can't help but consider Zen a "newby" company, whether that's accurate or not. Will reevaluate per your advice!

Lucytuma-I wasn't paying enough attention, and didn't know they came with a jacket; will factor that in as well, but not at "$129 value".
(Some of the $99 binoculars come with the jacket too!. Heckuva deal!)

 Thanks for the comments, Fellas!

Ron,

The reason I asked is that I have seen Bushnell Legend Ultra HD's for as little as $207 at various sites.

Maybe tried the new VISTA.  The spec seems impressive for $129.

The Vista referenced is Zen Ray.  Got my first look at the new ZRS and Vista.  I seriously suggest you wait till Chris has these ZRS in stock.
