I'm looking for a leapers 3x9 bugbuster.  Two options are available.  Their latest version,  and an older one.  I think both have the same features,  but the new one has a 30-color cross-hairs.

So is one better,  quality wise,  than the other?      Is that colourful riticle the only difference?

This is the newer one

This is their older models  (I think)

Both make respectable paperweights.

Aside from that, their utility is a crapshoot at best.

I had a 6X Bug Buster on a spring gun. It was okay on pop cans at short range. The glass combined with the illuminated green reticle was terrible for shooting in the woods.
Once it was zeroed it never shifted. So, I guess that is a good thing. It was also a compact scope. That was about five years ago, so I can't compare to newer glass and reticles.

I think Leapers is now using re-cycled Charmin Toilet Paper Rolls for tubes instead of Air Puffs.....

They are definitely compact. What are you looking to put it on?

When you start to think you can get a scope that has lots of features in a compact package at a LOW price there should be  a warning alarm going off.  (If it sounds too good to be true - it probably is.)
Most compact scopes suffer when it comes to usability.  Aimpoint and Trijicon ACOG scopes are the exception to that all other true compact scopes will likely have eye relief issues at different powers. The old time proven 4x fixed power scopes and 2-7 variable are about as compact as you should go in a traditional optic if you want it to work well.
