I have a 4200 6-24x40, side parralax, mildot ret. first off, about two years ago the parralax knob became loose and wouldnt cycle through the full range. Infinite was actually about 150 yards, didnt send it in. I had to go back from leave I can live with it. Well I am out now and been shooting alot more. Now the scope wont hold a zero on a .308 jumping 6-7" from shot to shot at 100 yards the scope dont even have 200 rounds through it. Maybe i got a bad one but the scope shouldnt be falling apart after less then 200 round of 308. I need a replacement any ideas? Whitetail hunting out to 400yds, $500 max.

Call or Email Bushnell and see if they will do anything for you. If they wont I suggest you look at the Super Sniper scopes and the Zeiss Conquest line.

Contact Bushnell Customer service at:

http://bushnell.com/global/customer-service/

Give that a try and please let me know how it comes out.   I am always interested in how the manufacturers treat their customers.  This forum is a good place to find out how manufacturers stand by their products.  You can contribute to that knowledge.

While I agree with you, the scope should have not failed. Remember, anything made by man can fail... The proof is usually in the customer service.

Yes they have, since nam. Not sure they can break the sound barrier...but still rugged enough to lay down some SERIOUS firepower!!!

I've had exactly the same problem with parallax adjustment on my (same) Bushnell. I've settled for putting on a 200-yd. rifle until I come up with something better - probably a Sightron Big Sky, but that's a little over your budget. Loosening up the rings helped the binding problem of the SF, but there's still the max-parallax problem; really don't think I damaged anything, as the rings weren't that tight to begin with. This was probably not the most well-designed scope Bushnell made; the small size/big mag was a selling point, though. Will eventually send mine back, but not holding out much hope with B-nell's middling CS reputation...

Sounds like part of the problem was a mounting issue. Did you or who ever mounted the scope use a torque wrench and if so how tight were they tighten to? Were the rings aligned also?

I simply won't purchase Bushnell had two that IMO were poor, I've also stopped purchasing Nikon
for me the glass quality has dropped, certainly I know good ones exist with both brands but those are the only two that have given me problems. Purchasing a scope in today's global economy with outsourcing, various brands in same factory it's luck of the draw.

Pretty much agree with you, oldguy; and Nikon's glass quality has been called into question here and on other forums lately.
In fairness to Bushnell, I'll re-mount this scope and lap the rings this time. I aso have a Monarch, mounted on an identical rifle and rings (Cooper &Talley LWs), assembled with only a screwdriver and Allen wrench, but haven't seen the first problem (not to say holes, etc. can't be off and/or tolerances stacked enough to cause alignment problems with even the "best" components.)

I would not condemn the whole brand because of a particular scope.

keep in mind, that they all market product lines that vary greatly in terms of price and performance.  For example, if you had a poorly performing Bushnell Trophy, it should have no reflection on the qulity of Elite 6500.

Similarly, while I am not a big fan of the optics in currently made Nikon Monarch scopes, Monarch X has excellent glass.

Bushnell CS has been outstanding. I do not condemn them for the one product. The Bushnell has been relocated to the 556. And a 4.5-14x44 conquest has been ordered for the 308.
