which of larue's three aimpoint mounts should i use on a rock river elite car a4.the handle has a built in picatinny. mount on that rail, or take it off and mount it on the actual flattop? any adv. or disadv. to either decision?

Mount it direct to the flattop (this is how they are designed).  I think the Cantilever is the way to go because it gives you more options, leaves more room on your receiver for flip up sights, night vision, etc. and since the Aimpoint has no eye relief you can mount it as far forward as you like.

I have the standard LaRue mount. I might like the low mount, just because it should allow me to co witness 1/2 the sight picture, instead of the bottom 1/4.

Not seen or used the cantilever style. Give Mark Larue a call. I talked to him yesterday. He's very accessible.

Oh yeah. Mount directly to flat top if you don't have an A2 style carbine.
